Fūrin is an app for learning Japanese words. This page says what data the app handles, where it
is kept and how to delete it. There is no tracking, no advertising and no analytics service.
What the app stores
Account email. You sign in with Apple or Google. The app sends their sign-in token
to our server, which checks it and keeps only your email address and an account id derived from it.
The email identifies your backup; it is not used for mail of any kind. With Apple's “Hide My Email”
the relay address is used instead.
Learning data. The decks and words you learn, your answers, your settings and
the name you give yourself in the app. It lives on your device and is backed up under your account
so that another device of yours can continue where you left off.
Error reports. When the app hits an error, it sends the error text, where in the
app it happened, the app version, the platform (iOS or Android) and your account id, so the problem
can be found and fixed. Reports are kept for a limited time and are not used for anything else.
Where it is kept
Backups and error reports are stored in Cloudflare R2 and processed by a Cloudflare Worker
(Cloudflare's privacy policy). Voice
recordings and deck pictures are served from the same place; fetching them tells Cloudflare your IP
address, as any web request does. Nothing is shared with anyone else.
Sign-in providers
Apple and Google see that you sign in to Fūrin, under their own policies. Fūrin receives only
what is needed to confirm who you are: your email address and a verified sign-in token.
Your choices
Sign out (Profile) leaves the account on that device; Sign out
everywhere ends every signed-in device.
Delete account (Profile) deletes the backup on the server and the data on the
device at once. We keep no other record of you, so there is nothing else to delete.
Children
Fūrin is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date. Questions go to the
developer through the support contact in the app's App Store or Google Play listing.
